Intranet booking rebuild

The story

During my BUT work-study, I took over the intranet's meeting-room and car booking tool: complete rebuild of the backend in PHP, interface modernisation, better user experience and full resolution of the bugs.

I was alone: nobody in the department had a technical profile, so I decided the architecture, developed, then carried the whole production rollout, from the server to training the users.

The application serves about 800 active workstations. Going live taught me what no course covers: migrating without interrupting the service, and listening to users who aren't technical.

What I take away

My first real product used every day: a bug is no longer a lost note, it's someone who can't book their room.
